Welcome to the Association of South Western Motor Clubs

We are now running 15 different Championships and have close to 250 contenders each year.

The ASWMC was formed 60 years ago this month, on the 9th of March 1957, with the aim of supporting local motor clubs and safeguarding their interests and activities through group representation to the (then) RAC Competition Department. We were not the first regional association, as similar ones had been established in the North in 1948 and the Midlands in the early 1950s.

At the start the association had just 21 member clubs and this has risen steadily to 86 in 2017, making the ASWMC one of the largest and most active MSA Regional Associations in the country. 1960 saw the introduction of Road Rally Championship which, as far as we can tell, was the first properly constructed and recognised Regional Association Championship in the country.

We now run 15 different Championships and have close to 250 contenders each year, with multiple registrations pushing the number of championship registrants each year over the 300 mark. The efforts and skill of our contenders are celebrated at the annual ASWMC awards presentation in the New Year following the end of the championship season.

Could you be one of our champions? The only way to find out is to join us - register for a championship, compete and have fun finding out.

Our Facebook Page

Hi everyone, from your new ASWMC Autosolo Coordinator.

Many of you already know me, but in case not, I'm a very active Autosolo Competitor. I won the ASWMC Autosolo Championship from 2014 to 2016. I also compete in the BTRDA Autosolo Championship (2nd overall this year, by one point, but I'm not jaded 😭). I won the ASWMC Loose Surface Stage Rally Championship way back in 1997. You'll also find me out on Targa Rallies and I made my debut in Autocross this year! That'll do for now.

There's already been a lot of talk behind the scenes regarding the Autosolo Championship and I'll be sharing some thoughts and ideas. But first I want to reach out to all the Clubs who might want to run rounds. I have some base dates and events in place but want to confirm and see if there are any other events I've missed.

To make sure that I don't miss anyone, who should I be communicating with within the Clubs regarding Autosolos?

To give the Competitors something to look forward to, I'd like to take at least two ASWMC teams to the Inter Association Autosolo in 2018. The exact date and event hasn't been selected as yet, but it could be in the North East Region! Not far 😉 Let's go win something for ASWMC!
