Marshalling | From Training to Rewards

Training

Who, What, When and Where

Training sessions are organised by the Association, usually at least one a year,. Topics covered range from “New To Marshalling”, “Stage Set Up” to “Incident Handling” and everything in between across several disiplines. In addition, any club can request a training event which will be run by a Motorsport UK registered trainer with funding available from the British Motorsport Trust.

For more information on training events contact the ASWMC Training Officer Jay Brown, email training@aswmc.org.uk, or visit Volunteers in Motorsport for more information.

For 2024, the ASWMC training days dates are 14th April at Exeter and other dates will be released as soon as we have the go ahead.  The British Rally Marshals Club is holding a series of webinar based training and further details are available on their website British Rally Marshals Club"

Rewards

The InCompass Marshals Trophy will be awarded to the marshal, who in the opinion of the ASWMC committee, has shown dedication, enthusiasm and competence as a Rally and/or Speed Marshal over the previous twelve months.

Each member club of the ASWMC will be invited to submit one nomination along with a comprehensive profile in support of their nomination. A panel of judges made up of ASWMC Officers will select the winner from those nominated and the award will be presented at the annual awards ceremony.

Grading

It is a condition of marshal registration since 2018 that all marshals undertake accreditation training, which can be done either on line or in a written format, further details from the ASWMC Training Officer. In addition to the accreditation, all marshals should attend a training session at a minimum of once every 2 years.

Motorsport UK run a Marshals Register, all registered marshals receive a credit card style membership card and also available are record booklets for recording of events attended and duties performed. There is a marshals grading scheme across all disciplines, please see below
