The Association holds Training Days for Rally Marshals and Speed Marshals. Motorsport would not take place without those of us who give up time, to stand in the middle of a forest or at the side of a race track in all weathers. Marshals are as important to motorsport as the competitors themselves, they cannot survive without each other. For many motorsport enthusiasts, competing in rallying, hillclimbing or many other forms of motorsport is not an option, so organising and being an official at events can be a good substitute.

The ASWMC recognises the importance of training, with regard to the marshals who officiate at all our Championship events as well as the numerous other local club, National and International events. It is much safer to learn about incidents and how to react to them on the training ground, than be faced with the situation in the middle of a forest, with limited assistance.

The InCompass Marshals Trophy will be awarded to the marshal, who in the opinion of the ASWMC committee, has shown dedication, enthusiasm and competence as a Rally and/or Speed Marshal over the previous twelve months.
Each member club of the ASWMC will be invited to submit one nomination along with a comprehensive profile in support of their nomination. A panel of judges made up of ASWMC Officers will select the winner from those nominated and the award will be presented at the annual awards ceremony. Clubs are requested to nominate marshals for 2010 with the award being presented at the 2010 awards ceremony on 20th February 2011.

The Marshal’s register originally run by all the regional associations has now been centralised and is now run by the MSA, it covers all disciplines and progress through the various grades is achieved by attending events and training days.
Future training days and the disciplines to be covered are listed below.

It is an MSA requirement that to maintain your grading, a training day is attended at least once every 2 years.

Registered marshal receive a registration and record card every 2 years, which gives their grade and enables them to record events and training days attended.

Training days and locations and disciplines can also be found under “training days” on The Volunteers in Motor Sport web site. www.volunteersinmotorsport.co.uk
